The name of the townland that I live in is Collops.

The name of the townland that I live in is Collops. There are twenty-one families living in this townland. The most common name is 'Carollan' There are four slated houses and the rest are thatched. It is called 'Collops', because long ago the ditches used to be covered with hazel bushes. There were many more houses long ago than there are now. The people from the townland emigrated to America in years gone by. It is fairly hilly land, with some bogs in it.
