would make boxty. They would get potatoes and grate them then mix boiled ones with them and put this mixture on the pan and bake it. It was lovely to eat. We often made it in our house. Every Hallow-eve night we make it.
We often made sowens. This is the way we make it. We got a tub of boiling water and mixed seeds and oaten meal in it. We left it to get sour in the hot weather in Summer and when Winter would come and milk scarce this was used instead.
On Hallow - eve we make colcannon, boxty, oaten-bread and potato bread.
