- The name of our townland is Carrickavee in the parish of Castlerahan and in the barony of Castlerahan. It got its name from the rocks because they are in the shape of a V. There are nine families in it and 45 people and 14 houses.
A great number of people went to America but someone always stayed behind in the house.
The name most common is the name Bennett. Most of the houses are slated and some are thatched. There are no old people in it. There were many more houses long ago. There were about three times as many houses. They are all in ruins now. There were many songs made about it long ago.
