Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The houses in olden times were usually thatched. They were thatched with rushes, reeds, or straw. In every house long ago there was a bed called the "settle-bed." This was placed along the side-wall and was used as a bed by night. Then it was folded up and used as a seat by day. The fire was not always place at the gab end it was often placed in the middle of the floor and there was no chimney. Instead of a chimney there was a hole in the roof to let out the smoke. The chimneys were not made of mortar or stone but were made of wood.
    The old houses had glass in the windows but they were so mall that half-doors
