    Glenart
    Glenart got its name from Art Mac Morrough for it was there Art Mac Morrough had his camp. It was there that the Duke of Gloucester came to make terms of peace with Art.
    Ferrybank
    When Cromwell came to Arklow there was no bridge over the Avoca river. There the people had to cross the river in ferry-boats. That is how Ferrybank got its name.
    Chaple
    Chaple is situated near Red Cross and it got its name from a chaple which stood there long ago.
    Abbey Lane
    In Arklow there is a certain lane called Abbey Lane which got its name from the old abbey which is now owned by Mr. Wm. Hall of Lr Main St.
    Pound Hill
    There is a certain Hill at Templrainey called the Pound Hill. There was a pound there. This is a place where seized cattle are kept. The hill got its name from that.
