There are certain days people think it unlucky to begin work, such as, Friday and Wednesday. Monday is said to be a lucky day for house - making. Tuesday Thirsday and Saturday and said to be lucky days for ploughing. Whit Monday is said to be the cross day of the year. It is said to a custom not to get married on that day.

There is a field in my district called the Priest's Hill because Fr. Ryan owned that hill. There are no stories about that hill. In peal times the priest said Mass in a glen, and in penal times the soldiers sent around shooting the Priests. The Priests built houses in the woods and said Mass in them, they also said Mass in huts.
