  1. In olden times there were two parts to the school in Johnstown - a boys' part and a girls' part. The girls' part was upstairs and the boys' part down-stairs. Then the school fell they had school in Mc. Dermot's barn. Then they built a new school and it is the present school. Another school was in Don's field. The children had to pay pennies every morning and if not they would be slapped every morning . The Teacher's name was Bob Poil.
