  1. Historical Tradition
    When the pike-men were marching to the battle of Arklow in '98 they camped in a field near my house in Ballykilty. People still show the field. The pike-men stopped and had refreshments in a house called Smiths in Coolgreany. Smiths do not now live in that house but the house is still there. A battle was fought in Sleighduff in '98.
