  1. Not many Plagues or epidemics visited our glen so far, but we are told that there was a very fatal one in the year of 1870 known as the "Black Fever".
There was not a family in the glen at that time, but was left without a couple or three of its members, by the effects of this horrible and dreaded disease, the Black fever.
The person was bad for twenty one days, and from eleven to fourteen of these days he or she was unconscious. The people of this glen do not remember it, only they heard their fathers talk about it when they were young.
This plague was the worst source of sickness that ever visited the glen, but we have similar sicknes's but they are never, or very seldom dangerous.
