There were some Irish Republican Army boys "on the run" hiding in the mountains. The guards got information and went on their track. They happened to go into Mr Coady's house to make a search and caught the daughter boiling the "copper" over a big fire. They seized on all arrested Mr Coady and brought the "still" and "worm" to the Civic Guard Station, Enniscorthy. Mr. Coady was heavily fined and since that time no one in this district ever attempted to make poteen.
