    enters the Slaney. On its banks was an old ("?"), the remains of which are still to be seen.
    Not far from this place is ("Cahir Ruadh's Den"?). He was a famous outlaw and a noted robber. He was sometimes called, ("Cahir Na Capall"?) on account of his great love and care for horses.
    One day when Cahir was returning to his "Den" he met a girl with a pitcher of water. He asked her for a drink and as she was handing it to him he caught her by the arm and pulled her up on his horse.
    Her loud screams attracted the neighbours. They came around with sticks and pitchforks and succeeded in rescuing the young girl.
    They followed him to his "Den" on the mountaintop, where, after discharging his pistol at them, he sprang head foremost into his "Den" and was not heard of for years afterwards until he was captured
