   Thistles are the most harmful weeds growing on our farm, because they grow on the corn and they smother the young corn that grows up beside them. When you have the corn cut you have to leave it in stook longer to let the sap dry in them. It is not easy to stack them either because the thistles are sore on the hands.
   Ragweed grows on good land but they are not as bad as the thistles. The growth of the ragweed can be stopped by letting the sheep in on it in early Spring.
   Scutch grass grows on poor land and it is harmful.
   Dandelion, chopped and boiled and drained is good for the blood. The milky substance of the dandelion is a cure for warts.
   The sap of the Pennyleaf is a good cure if rubbed on chilblains
   Nettle stings are a cure fore sciatica
   The juice of the dock leaves are a good cure for nettle stings
