- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)be buried in the Graveyard. Four men used to carry a Bier which was made with two poles and six light boards nailed across it. They tied the coffin with ropes to the Bier. There were many houses which are now gone to ruins. Some of the people died with hunger and with the Black-Fever. As they had nothing to eat . only porridge which they bought in Killmyshall and Clohamon in sweet cans. There were two men in Newtownbarry who used to sell Indian meal at a half-crown per stone. They also used to eat turnips. The seed were got over from England for the next year. They were called "Champions."
