  1. In a big field near Carrig graveyard there is a great tree around which is a large ring with-in which nothing will grow. The following story is related about it by the local people.
    A certain man was returning home at mid-night from playing cards at a local house. When crossing the field he was pursued by a stranger. The man turned around at looked at the stranger and to his great surprise he saw that the new-comer had a club foot and a long tail. He at once recognised him as the devil. He ran to the tree and
