- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)a carriage to the bride's house, old boots, shoes and cans were tied on the back of the carriage so as to bring them luck. When the house was reached and the reception over, the floor of the barn was swept clean. Some men then assembled with melodies and violins, which were at that time called fiddles. The neighbours then were engaged in dancing and straw-boys were employed as serenaders at the wedding. These were men who acted as serenaders at most celebrations, such as, wedding or when people won money. They stood like a guard of honour and blew bugles.
