- In old times people threshed all their oats with a flail
James Sheridan of Moyne who lived in Moyne bog was a famous thresher He could thresh a stack of oats every day. The flail consisted of two sticks tied together with a flax cord. One of the sticks was heavier than the other and the person took the heavy stick in his hand and hit the oats with the lighter one and knocked the grain out of it.
