- Fairs were held in fields long ago. The principal fair was held in a field beside the road at Bunlahy and at Ballinamuck and at Crossdoney. There were no horses sold at Bunlahy. In the fields and on the greens the cattle are sold. Young pigs are sold on the street. Cows and cattle are sold on the greens. On the streets the horses and asses are sold. At the present time cattle which are sold are marked on the hind quarter. The hair is sometimes cut with a scissors to mark them. The cattle are marked with red or blue brand. The halter is given to the person who buys the animal. The people when they sell anything give back some money. It is called a Luck Penny.
