    a griddle. When they would be making it they would get oaten meal and wet it with hot water and they would dry it up by shaking oaten meal on it. Then they would flatten it out in the shape of a cake and put it standing against the griddle before the fire and it would be baked in about an hour. It was the chief food for preserving the teeth.
    There were special foods eaten on special occasions long ago. It is an old custom to eat more eggs on Easter Sunday than in any other time of the year. On Halloween people eat a lot of Culcannon and it is said to be the last day of the year for eating it. It is also an old custom to eat a lot of food at Xmas. The people go to the town at Xmas and they bring home a lot of goods.
