Bird Lore There are many kinds of wild birds but the most common ones in my district are the crane, wild-duck and robin.
The crane builds its nest in a big tree and the wild-duck builds in a bog and the robin builds in a ditch.
The crane builds a big nest of sticks and clay and it leaves two holes for its legs to hang down and it lays seven big eggs.
The wild-duck builds a big nest of rushes and it lays six big eggs.
The robin builds a small nest of moss and hair and it lays five white eggs with grey spots.
It takes the crane four weeks to hatch and the wild-duck three weeks and a few days and the robin three weeks.
