    There are some old ruins in the school district. There is one that can be seen from the school. It is on Inch Island in the middle of Lough Gowna. There is a monastery and the ruins of an old church on it. Saint Colmcille visited it long ago. There is a stone with the track of his knees on it. It is said he knelt on it when he was on the island. There is a graveyard on the island also.
    Monks lived on the island in the monastery long ago, and they used to say Mass in it.
    People are buried in the graveyard yet. There are old skulls and other parts of the head to be seen in the monastery also.
