    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    The ruins of the old Franciscan Abbey are still to be seen near the present Technical School beside the Cholera ground. It is said the "Four Masters" spent a while here. The Abbey was endowed by "Cahal Mór of the Wine Red Hand". Sir Henry Dillon is buried there. There was an old Cistercian Monastery where the present St. Peter's National School now is. The trace of its windows are still to be seen in the walls of some of the houses, at the back of High Street.
    A third monastery was situated in College Lane, off Connaught St. Its windows are to be seen quite plainly today.
