- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)wall. There is still a half-door in nearly every house in this district.
The people long ago used to burn turf, scraws and sticks. The poor people could not cut turf so they used to burn scraws and sticks. It was only rich people who used to burn any turf. Before candles came to this district rushes were used for giving light at night. The rushes used to be peeled and dipped in grease. There was a little boat-shaped metal utensil called a griset into which grease used to be put; this used to be put on the fire to melt the grease.- Bailitheoir
