Ar an leathanach seo

  1. My home district is called Lurig and it is in the townland of Ballinamill, in the parish of Castletown Geoghegan and in the barony of Moycashel. There are about forty people living in the townland and there are about seven families in it. Keegan is the most common family name in the townland.
The most of the houses are thatched. It is said that the meaning of Lurig is a "house built on a track, or pass." There are about five people over seventy in the townland but they cannot tell stories in Irish. The stories they tell are mostly ghost stories and stories about their young days. Their names are Patrick Keegan and Mrs Keegan who live in Lurig, and Mrs Clavin, Mary Pettit and Willie Fox who live in Ballinamill.
