- A poor Roman Catholic man who lived a few miles from Kilbeggan during the Penal Days. He had the misfortune to be tempted for ready saxon gold to betray the where abouts of a Priest. Luckily the poor Soggart wasn't caught although the Yeos chased him.The poor man in time repented of his evil deed, but all the neighbours shunned him.He lay dying and kept calling for the priest, and invoking St. Joseph for the grace of a happy death.
