  1. The field now known as the Reiligh, so called because the cemetary occupies porton of it - was once the site of the Cistercian Monastery. The Abbey was situated the river side and the College building was facing the Tullamore Road. The former position of the latter is now spoken of as the "Grove".
    Ecclesiastic students who had finished their studies in Rahan College, spent a year in this Cistercian College, and then passed on to complete their term in Mullingar.
