    in little bundles and tied these bundles with a split briar. Then he went from house to house selling them for a penny each. They were very useful for sweeping floors.
    There was another man who l ived in Moyle, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan. His name was John Regan and he was a creel-maker. This man had a wooden square stand with eighteen holes round the edge of it. In each hole he would place a sally rod standing straight up. He would then twist 36 fine rods in and out between these 18 strong ones. Then the creel was complete. He would take these to the town on market day and sell them for 2 pound 6 d each.
    In townland of Blackhills there was an old man named Peter Sheridan. This man was a clogmaker. A clog is a leather boot with a wooden sole. This man would go to the wood and cut timber. He would cut the soles out of the trunks of the trees.
    Then he would nail the leather to these soles. He would put a round piece of iron called a ''tip'' on the sole and another on the heel. He would sell these in the market for 2 pound 6 d per pair. At that time everyone was wearing them.
