- The food that people generally used long ago was oaten meal porridge. They used to eat it two or three times a day. They ate it at their breakfast and at their supper and sometimes at their dinner. They used to kill their own pigs and have plenty of bacon. They ate a lot of cabbage and bacon and potatoes.
They used to make their own bread from wheat and oat. They drank a lot of buttermilk on Christmas Day and New Years Day and Easter Sunday they used to eat beef and mutton.
- The people of long age did not eat as much as the people do now. During the harvest time they got up at six o'clock(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
