About seventy years ago the children did not wear boots until they were about ten years old. The children nowadays wear boots when they begin to walk. Each Summer the children go barefooted.
- There are very few cobblers in this district. There was one cobbler in Kilmessan. His name is Mr. Martin. He was a good cobbler for mending and soling boots. Then he lost the sight in one eye and he cannot mend boots now. He used to put new toecaps on boots that needed them. The cobbler steeps the leather in a basin to soften it. The leather must be soft(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
