  1. A Funny Story
    There were three brothers living up at Gormanstown a place between Drogheda and Dublin. They had a big orchard, and they were farmers. In the autumn they used to take the fruit to Dublin in a horse and cart.
    There was an old man going about, and he was a fortune teller. One time he went to the farm where the three brothers lived and they invited him to spend the night with them.
    The youngest brother got him to read his fortune. The man read his fortune, and he told him that one time after he had sold his fruit and would be returning home from Dublin; he would lose his cart and horse, but he would find a large sum of money.
    The brother told the two older ones, and they said that they would take good care that he would not go with the fruit. Some time afterwards there was a fever in the district, and the two eldest brothers got it; so it fell to the young brother to go with
