  2. The Swan is a very large bird and she has a black beak. You can't frighten the Swan from a distance. Old people say that if you kill or injure the Swan in any way, you will never have any luck. The Swan comes to this district in the winter and she builds her nest in the rushes and lays her egg every other day and has her "scaldys" out in a month. Then when her little ones are able to fly, they kill the old mother.
    When you see three magpies flying together it is a sign of a death.
    When you see the Pigeon flying high it is the sign of war.
    When you see the Sea-gulls flying inland it is the sign of a storm.
    When the Curlew is shouting it is the sign of a storm.
