- (continued from previous page)long ago when people used to put ashes on their heads. Nowadays people pin pieces of paper or cloth on somebody's back. As they do not know it is on them they walk about with it hanging behind them. This is called an "ash - bag"
Easter Saturday. It is said that on this day people get ready their stomachs for Sunday.
Easter Sunday. On this day people go out and light fires and boil eggs. Usually they try who can eat most eggs. Many easter eggs are also eaten on this day.
Hallowee'n night. On this night there is usually a number of games played amongst children. Some grown up boys play tricks on their neighbours such as tying doors so that people inside cannot get out easily. They also delight in removing articles such as gates, carts, ploughs etc.
Whit Sunday and Whit Monday are said to be very unlucky days for anything born on those days will either be killed or kill someone.
On Michaelsmith's day it is said, the devil throws his club over the blackberries so that no more of them can be eaten.- Collector
