- The townland of Lisnalee is situated in the parish of Kilmore in the County of Monaghan about 5 miles from Monaghan. There are a good many families living in it about 5 consisting of about 23 people. The name most common is Mc Mahon. The houses are all 2 storey slated dwellings. There are two people over 70 living in the district
Jane Clerkin, Lisnalee, Dunraymond, Co Monaghan Samuel Armstrong, Lisnalee, Dunraymond, Co Monagjhan They know no Irish but are able to tell some old stories in English. There were about 3 more houses in the district long ago. These houses have completely disappeared. There or 4 families emigrated to America and other far off countries. The land is both hilly and boggy. Turf is still made in the bogs.
Few trees grow in the district and the principal tree grown is ash. Oak roots were found in the bogs which were said to have been buried during the time of the flood.
