  1. Some time ago a man lived in Pallas; his name was Denis Gorman. He was noted for his strength. It is said that he could lift a fourteen stone weight with his little finger. He was able to lift a dead horse into a cart and was able to pull a plough after him.
    This story was told to me by my grandfather and it is true. He was able to do these things up to sixty-five years of age. He died about fifty years ago.
