Each man with a blackthorn stick in his fist
His shirt coloured white, and his coat buttoned tight,
Every step he would give, his shillelagh would twist.
    6 verse
There were car loads of girls, with fringes and curls,
And bags stuffed with hay, as they sat at their ease,
For when they got down, and walked up through the town,
Their white stockings were spattered with mud to their knees.
    7 verse
It was then half-past ten, when they all gathered in.
There was woeful confusion, all over the town.
While pigs they were squalling, and cattle were bawling,
And horses and wagons, were going up and down
    8 verse
There was humours and pleasure and courting at pleasure,
While whiskey and porter were flying galore,
While each met their lover, they got into cover,
The steam of the bunch, used smell out from each door.
    9 verse
They got pretty frisky, from drinking good whiskey,
In each public house , there was nothing but rows
They whacked it like blazes, from Corbetts to Hayeses, Delaney's, Caplises, Butler's and Gow's
There was pegging of wattles and choking of throttles
While brick-stone and bottles, were falling like hail.
Until the police, hauled them, and safely installed them,
And gave them peaceable lodging that night in the jail.
