Once upon a time there was a boy who lived with his father and mother.

Once upon a time there was a boy who lived with his father and mother. One day his mother was picking a bone of a goose when a poor man came to the door and asked for help. The woman picked every scrap of meat off the bone she then gave it to the man. He said you'll be picking that bone yet mam. Year's went by and the father and mother died. The boy went off to seek his fortune he walked for many day's and was in bad hopes of anything. One dark night when he was nearly in despair he spied a light a long way off as he came nearer to it, it grew fainter until in the end he saw nothing. He came to an old ruin all of a sudden he saw a door going down into the ground. He went down the steps until he came to a grand room with a big fire blazing there. He sat down to the fire and fell asleep, soon he was awakened by a step coming down the stairs. He saw an old man who began to lay a table with every sort of eatables, then the man vanished. The boy got up and ate enough he slept beside the fire that night and went out in the morning and toiled all day. He came back that night and found the same thing before him. Soon the little old man came again and prepared a table of fine eatables then he vanished. The boy ate lots. He slept there that night and away with him
