    hard, and it seemed as if he was going to win the fight. He aimed a blow to hit his enemy's head but the floor was so slippery with blood that he fell to the ground. Then the other man killed him.
    It is said that the ground opened under the live man's feet and swallowed him up. It is also said that the blood is still on the floor and wall and it cannot be got off.
    Many attempts have been made to rub it out, but it was all in vain. Even "whitewash" and wallpaper were put on it, but it came out through them. To-day if you go into Beechwood House you will see the blood-stain still in the sitting room.
