  1. A Local Story
    Once upon a time there lived a man in around Kilruane and he got sick. It was in the middle of the night and he sent someone from around the place for the priest. It was on horseback he went, and as he was going down near Ballygibbon, a flock of turkeys came out and stood on the middle of the road and would not let the horse pass.
    The man beat the horse every way to try to get the horse to pass the turkeys but it was all the same he could not get past. He stayed on the road for an hour trying to get past the unruly birds but if he stayed as long more he could not get past.
    At last when he saw he could not go that way, he went back and went by Cloneen and as he was passing the old bog, here the turkeys came out again and would not let him pass.
    The man beat the horse everyway trying to get past but it was all the same. After a while he got past and went on for the priest. He was not long come home, but to their surprise on reaching the room he man was dead.
