  1. (continued from previous page)
Jim Mulqueen wrote poetry about everything, that happened. A dance was held in Burnse's one night and Jim was present. He wrote the following about the ball which was held.
    Burnse's Ball. 1927
We Irish are jolly and gay in our manner.
We are fond of sweet music, a dance, and a song.
So each of us paid down our five and a "tanner"
To have a good time, while the nights they were long.
You may travel from Clare to the fair hills of Antrim.
or anywhere else in this island at all.
But a jollier crowd never kicked up a tantrum.
Than the crowd that assembled at Burnses ball.
Jack Nail from Tervoe of course he was present.
The chap never touches a drop of the booze.
His handsome young face, looked awfully pleasant.
He danced 'til the rubbers fell off his shoes.
Tim Cooney, the comic he mad us all laugh, sure
gay Jackie Meskill the flower of them all.
His music it filled all the girls with rapture.
As they whirled all night at Mick Burnse's ball.
