  1. There was a deal more customs on feast days long ago than there are now. A number of boys on St Stephen's Day go out with decorated bushes singing songs from house to house. In nearly every house they get money.
    When they have some money gathered a party is held. Long ago perhaps Shrove Tuesday night was the most enjoyable night of the year with the exception of Christmas Night. In every part of a town boys were gathered.
