    little boy grew up and had for a companion a step - brother. There was a big difference between the two young men, the eldest boy was kind and good natured like his parents but the second was proud and disliked by everyone.
    His mother took a great dislike towards her step - son. She kept telling the father story after story every one as bad as the other until one day the father called him in to his study and told him he was surprised and ashamed of his conduct and told him to leave the house without delay. None was more surprise than the boy himself at this outburst of hatred from his father. All his please of innocense would not alter the fathers decision so packing his trunk he went to see the old butler prior to his departure. He told the old man the whole story and both came to the same conclusion that it was the stepmother's work to get rid of the rightful heir to the place, and leave her, and her son in command of the place when the old father was dead. The old butler promised to keep a sharp look out, and report to the boy who crossed to America the following day. No sooner had he left
