Acording to local tradition a carpenter who lived in the village of Ardagh was suffering from sore eyes. He visited the well, paid rounds at it and washed his eyes in the well. He was cured, the carpenters name was Mr. Kevin and he was cured about 50 years ago. Even in recent years some people paid rounds to this well on the eve of St. Molua's feast day, August 3rd.
It is also believed by some people, and especially the old people that the water in the well rises when fine weather is coming and it falls when bad weather is approaching. - Níl tú logáilte isteach, ach tá fáilte romhat tras-scríobh a dhéanamh go hanaithnid.
