On the eve of St. Stephen's Day a holly bush was decorated with ribbons and coloured papers. On top of the bush was a nest with a dead bird in it. - On St. Stephen's day long ago, men and boys went with the wren bush. They prepared the night before, so that a batch of them would go out early in the morning. This wren bush was dressed with ribbons and papers of every colour, and a little wren was placed on top of it.
