  1. There is a curious legend concerning Matehy graveyard which lies between Grenagh and Inniscarra.
In olden times the graveyard was situated in the townland of Loughane. In penal times a renegade Catholic was buried there, who in his lifetime had betrayed a priest to the murderers yeomanry. The night after his interment, the burial ground changed its position, and next morning was found on the opposite bank of the Shournagh river at a place called Matehy. One grave only remained in its original position - the grave of the informer, where to this day it can be seen.
One tombstone lies on the bank of the stream and on the rocks nearly are footprints said to be those of the dead whose bones could not rest at peace beside the betrayer.

  2. At Kilquane there is a very old graveyard called Teampuillin. Here stands the ivy-grown ruins of a Church of the Knights Templars, a branch of the Abbey of Mourne. Within the graveyard is a rock called Carrig (or [??]), the Sinner's Stone, where evildoers went to make reparation for their offences. There is a hole in the stone
