Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The Great local saint is Saint Nicholas. The village church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the blessed well near Monanimy Castle is called the Well of Saint Nicholas.
    However, it seems that a "pattern" was never held at this Well and therefore no Saint's Day.
    Richard O'Brien says that people in the olden times paid rounds to this well at day-break. The bushes nearby were often littered by ribbons left behind by those who visited the well.
    People paid rounds for such diseases as sore eyes, St. Vitus Dance and all incurable diseases.
    It was from this well that the people of Killavullen Village got all their water for household use before the putting down of the present water supply in Killavullen Village in 1900.
    An incident is recalled in regard to the sacred nature of the well.
