  1. The most harmful weeds growing in my garden at home are: - Thistles, Dogleaves, Práiseach Buidhe, Grundsel, and Dead mans hands. These weeds are harmful because they spread rapidly.
    Thistles are looked upon to grow only where the land is good. Ferns only grow where the land is bad. The "buachallán" grows where the land is badly fertilized. When the silver weed appears in the garden it is a sign of soil. A farmer is not pleased when the dog daisy appears in his meadow.
    Water lilies and rushes are a sign of marshy land. Old people believe that if there are buttercups growing in the field where the cows are grazing the butter which they get from their milk will be good. From this the buttercup got its name.
