  1. The people ate 3 meals in olden times, breakfast, dinner & supper.
    They worked before breakfast before breakfast.
    {The breakfast consisted of bread & milk.
    {The dinner " of potatoes & dripping (made of flour & onions.) &
    {Bread & coffee or yellow gruel (with milk) were taken for supper.
    People sat round the table or at the table by the wall, according to the size of the family. 'One way' bread & American meat were eaten.Fish was also eaten. People took supper about 9 o'clock p.m.
    A special 'dish' was known as "Stampy", which was made pf grated potatoes, baked with flour. Piggins were used when drinking.

    The breakfast was at 7 o'clock, dinner at one & the supper about 8 o'clock.
    The meals consisted of buttermilk, potatoes & oatmeal.
    All people did not eat potatoes at every meal.

    Wheaten bread was eaten by all the people & meat was eaten twice a week - on Wednesday's & Sunday's. Salt meat was eaten. People did not take food late at night. Tea was 'scarce' & they drank it only @ Christmas. Tea became common here about 60 yrs. ago.
    Tin mugs were used, before cups became common.
