Ar an leathanach seo
- The Leipreachán or Mermaid.The Leiprachán is a very small man aobut a foot in height. He lives under a plant. I never saw the Leipreachán, but there are many stories told about him. He is dressed in red, and sometimes in green.
He is a shoemaker. He has a little jug with him into which he gathers the morning dew. It is said that he had gold, and if you caught him he would give you the gold, but he would try every way he could to get away. Here is a story told of the Leipreachán.
One day he was caught by an old woman, and he wanted to go from her, and she put him into her coat and took him off with her. She asked him for some gold, and he said if she left him on his feet he would give it to her. She left him on his feet, and he ran off laughing at the poor old woman.
The Mermaid is half a fish and half a woman. She is very small. The people go to see her. If she saw a person she would put out her hand to shake hands with her, and if you gave her your hand she would(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
