  1. 1 There is an old saying that
A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning.
A rainbow at night in the shepherd's delight.
2 Usually a rainbow appears before a storm. When we see a rainbow we can be sure it does not predict very fine weather.
3 The swallows also predict the kind of weather to come. If they are flying high in the air, fine weather and if near the ground, bad weather.
4 When the seagulls are seen flying inland it is a sign that it is stormy at sea.
5 When the curlews are seen going northwards it is a sign that we shall have fine weather. But when we see them going southwards it is a sign of bad weather.
6 A crimson and purple hue on the western sky after the sun has gone down is a prediction of stormy weather.
