  1. The Landlord who ruled over Glen and the surrounding districts was Major Cray. He is said to have been a very just and mild ruler. This account is true, as my Great Granfather was his sub-lord.
    During his term as sub-lord he never experienced an eviction, despite the fact that several of the tenants were unable to pay the rent.
    Major Cray reigned about a hundred and thirty years ago and since his time any of his successors were not so lenient to the tenants. Many of his ancestors were landlords, all of whom were a very decent people. He is still remembered in this district, and his absence regretted.
    Mr. Townsend reigned about the same time as Major Cray, but he was by far a more severe ruler. He would not allow anyone to shoot rabbits or hares in his land. Every one he caught shooting he summoned him. He had no power to evict people, but he used send them to jail.
    A one Mr. O'Connell was sent to jail on one occasion. He however, did not have to spend the full amount of time there. When he was in possession of his lands again he was asked to
