- Saint Brigid's Cross is made on Saint Brigid's Eve.
It is made with two flat pieces of narrow timber, joined together by straw woven in and out, until a diamond shape is in the centre. Two smaller pieces of timber are put on the right, and left, and at the top of the big ones. The straw is woven in these in the same way as in the big pieces.
When it is made it is sprinkled with Holy Water, and hung over the kitchen door, and it is said that by Saint Brigid's Prayers for the household(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
